Chapter 5: Why?

Marie finally started to calm down, by pushing the whole accident thoughts to the back of her mind. She decided to go to Brooke’s house first since it had been a half hour since she called her.

She stood on the front porch and called Brooke.

She got her best ‘Just cried my eyes out’ voice and said “I'm at the door”

She heard footsteps coming down the stairs, and then the door opened. Brooke ran out and suffocated Marie in a hug.

“I'm so sorry, I just called the police to his house, and he won’t do that ever again, unless he’s with some guy in jail”

Marie pushed away from Brooke; she felt the blood rush out of her body. “When?” Marie said with out totally having a mental breakdown.

“Right after you called me, so like 30 minutes ago? I figured that you were just trying to get yourself together before talking to me, but you should of come right away” Brooke placed a hand on Marie’s shoulder.

Marie pushed away from Brooke, she put her head in her hands, and started breathing heavily, she ran to her car and started it up, but the engine didn’t turn over. Marie felt like she was going crazy, actually she felt like she was already there. Then, her vision started to be sucked behind her.

“Marie? You O.K. babe?” Michael asked, he still had the 50 in his hand, but Marie was just standing there.

“No, no, no, not this” Marie said as she looked down at her closed phone. Michael pulled her into the house.

“Marie!! What the hell is your problem! Just tell me” Michael was getting beyond pissed, and he wished Marie would just be honest. “I’d rather you tell me that I’m a horrible person, than running from me every 5 minutes.”

Marie looked at him “Give me a second” She took out her phone and called Brooke, “I need you over Mike’s house, we have to talk”

She flipped it closed then back open and dialed 9-1-1.

“Hi, I’ve seen 2 Goth looking kids in the mall, and I overheard them talking about blowing something big up, I believe their names are Tommy and Z. They might be leaving soon, and their license plate is 1YR EVE.”

“That made no sense” Marie said in her monotonous voice. “Call Charlie”

She heard a sigh from next to her to see Ian, “Please go into the other room”

“I'm not even going to ask it anymore, I'm done” Michael said with an obvious anger in his voice. The doorbell rang and Brooke came in, but Michael went out. Brooke grabbed his arm, and he shrugged it off.

“Alright, what happened?” Brooke instantly said. Marie was back to her mental breakdown, every time she did something, time would put her back to the beginning. It sounded so supernatural.

“It’s gonna take a while, are you ready?” Marie said as she took a deep breath.
